Telegration Reduces Connection Costs for Ford Auto Suppliers
Clawson, MI – October 7, 2009 – Telegration, a leading provider and reseller of business telecommunications services, announced today that it is offering a lower cost alternative for Ford suppliers who wish to transfer data and collaborate in real time with the company.
Previously, if suppliers wanted consistent, reliable speed and guaranteed security for data transmissions to and from the automaker they had to use The Automotive Network Exchange (ANX), a private network for the auto industry that was built in 1995. However, the cost for suppliers to install and use a dedicated connection to ANX each month was considerable. Because Telegration represents so many different telecommunications providers, it was ideally positioned to provide the bandwidth that multiple Ford suppliers could use.
“Telecommunications and security have evolved considerably in recent years so there is no need to use an expensive private network any more,” said Denis Raue, President of Telegration. “In these difficult times it makes a lot more financial sense to use the public Internet for communications between automakers and their suppliers once adequate security is in place.”
To provide its solution, Telegration partnered with Troy-based MBM Computer Security System Solutions. As a result, suppliers can have high-speed, secure Internet connectivity to Ford for approximately $12,000 a year over a secure public network, compared to approximately $40,000 a year for a private, dedicated network.
“The high-speed T1 service that we provide enables fast, low-latency data transfer of large data files and allow teams of engineers to collaborate on designs in real time,” said Raue. “Currently, approximately 50 suppliers have signed up for the Telegration service with more expected to follow.”
